The makers of Ajith’s upcoming flick ‘Valimai’ have announced that the movie will be released on Pongal 2022. The flick is directed by H Vinoth and is bankrolled by Boney Kapoor.
Several Ajith movies have been released for the harvest festival over the years. Let us take a look at some of the hit films of Ajith which were released for Pongal.
Vaanmathi (1996): Ajith and Swathi starred in this Agathiyan film. This was a traditional wealthy girl-poor guy romance that did well at the box office. This was Ajith’s first Pongal release, which ran for 100 days.
Dheena (2001) : In Murugadoss’ directorial debut, Ajith was given the screen name Thala. This Pongal, the renowned Thala and Thalapathy clashed at the box office with ‘Dheena’ and ‘Friends’, and both films grossed a lot of money.
Veeram (2014) : This film offered Ajith a rural makeover, and the Siva – Ajith pairing became an all-around smash hit. Tamanah was the heroine. Vijay’s ‘Jilla’, which was released alongside, also did well.
Viswasam (2019) : Ajith’s last film with Siva was likewise a family hit, with Ajith teaming up with Nayanthara. The father-daughter bond struck a powerful chord with the crowd. The movie clashed with Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Petta’.
‘Alwar’ (2007), ‘Paramasivam’ (2006), ‘Red’ (2002) are a few other movies of Ajith to release for Pongal.
