777 Charlie which was released recently has received the appreciation and admiration of the audience. The movie has a labrador playing an important role.
Let us take a look at some of the Tamil films in which canines played an important role.
Naai Sekar:
Directed by Kishore Rajkumar, Naai Sekar has a great premise for a fun film, especially a kid-centric one. The idea for the film is very simple – what if a man bitten by a dog starts behaving like one, while the dog begins to show human qualities.
Naaigal Jaakirathai:
The movie is written and directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan featuring Sibiraj, Arundhati and a German Shepherd dog named Mani in the lead. The dog helps his new master, a police officer, in the hunt for his missing wife, who has been kidnapped by a revenge-seeking criminal.
Rocky: The Revenge:
It is an action police crime thriller with Srikanth playing a cop, who is assisted by two German shepherd dogs that play crucial roles in the film. The film is directed by veteran KC Bokadia.
Oh My Dog:
Debutant director Sarov Shanmugam’s Oh My Dog, which introduces actor Arun Vijay’s son Arnav in a memorable role. The simple plot of the bond between a dog and its master is beautifully explored in Oh My Dog.
Moondram Pirai:
Tamil movies about dogs will not be complete without the mention of ‘Subramani’ from Kamal Haasan and Sridevi starrer ‘Moondram Pirai’. Animals play a very important part in their relationship. When Viji comes to Ooty (where Cheenu lives), she picks up a dog and names him ‘Subramani’.
