‘Celebrity MasterChef Tamil’ is adding three prominent culinary names to its judging panel as the Tamil edition of the popular cooking format gears up for its launch.
Chef and television personality Venkatesh Bhat, ‘MasterChef Australia’ Season 10 champion Sashi Cheliah and culinary expert Shreeya Adka will evaluate the celebrity contestants on the show.
Actor Samantha has joined the programme as a celebrity judge, while Vijay Sethupathi is the host.
The series will feature well-known personalities from the Tamil entertainment industry taking on a completely different challenge as they compete in the kitchen. Contestants will have to tackle a range of cooking assignments while dealing with time pressure, unexpected twists and the demands of the judges.
Venkatesh Bhat said the programme offered an opportunity to showcase the variety and heritage of Tamil cuisine to a larger audience. He also expressed excitement about being part of a format that has helped bring Indian food to viewers around the world.
For Sashi Cheliah, the new role brings his own ‘MasterChef’ journey full circle. After beginning his professional life with the Singapore Police Force, he went on to win the tenth season of ‘MasterChef Australia’. He said his childhood exposure to Indian and Southeast Asian flavours played an important role in shaping his culinary journey.
Shreeya Adka said the new show would combine cooking with the traditions, emotions and stories associated with Tamil food. Produced by Banijay Asia, ‘Celebrity MasterChef Tamil’ is expected to premiere on Sony LIV and Sony VIZHA.
