Adding more to this trend is the growing presence of social media. This week, as part of its Friday special articles series, Mykollywood.com tracks some recent rumours about celebrities and their prompt reactions to the claims.
CASTING CALL FOR KARTHICK NAREN-DHANUSH FILM
With young filmmaker Karthick Naren of ‘Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru’ and ‘Mafia’ fame gearing up to direct Dhanush for a new project, tentatively called ‘D43’, it seems there has been fake casting call asking money to be part of the cast in the film.
Following this, the director took to social media and posted: “Important – It has been brought to my notice that a guy impersonating me is circulating a fake casting call via the whatsapp number 9777017348 & asking money for being a part of the cast in my upcoming film.”
Karthick Naren, whose ‘Naragasuran’ with Arvind Swamy and Shriya Saran is waiting to hit the screens, added: “Please block & report the number if you get any text. Whoever is doing this is a fraud & should burn in hell!”.
NAYANTHARA, PRABHU DEVA TOGETHER AGAIN
Nayanthara and Prabhu Deva were in relationship some years ago and they parted ways later. The latest buzz is that the two would come together for a film to be produced by Ishari Ganesh.
It was said that the producer would revive his long pending project ‘Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja’ and Nayanthara and Prabhu Deva would work together in it after a long gap.
However, Ganesh of Vels banner has cleared the air by saying that they are baseless rumours and he has no plans to revive his movie with Prabhu Deva, Karthi and Vishal, in the near future.
SIMRAN IN ‘CHANDRAMUKHI-2’
Ever since ‘Chandramukhi 2’ was announced, there were speculations that the role made memorable by Jyotika in the first part would be performed by Simran in the sequel.
Adding spice to the buzz, Jyotika herself had said during a media interaction that she would like to recommend Simran for the second part, since the actress was hugely talented.
However now, clearing the air on the issue, Simran has denied replacing Jyotika in ‘Chandramukhi 2’. “It is a fake news I am sorry to disappoint my fans wanted to clarify I have not been approached for any such role for a movie,” she posted on her social media page.
The ‘Panchathanthiram’ and ‘Thullatha Manamum Thullum’ actress added: “I kindly request you all to plz get it right before publishing it on any platform. Thank you.”
VARALAXMI MARRYING CRICKETER
Rumours linking actresses and cricketers are very common and the latest buzz in K-Town was the one that linked Varalaxmi Sarathkumar with an Indian cricketer. It was said that she would enter wedlock with him soon.
Refuting those claims, the actress wrote: “Why am i the last to know that I’m getting married..??Hahahah the same nonsense rumors..why is everybody obsessed with me getting married..”
The ‘Sandakozhi 2’ and ‘Maari 2’ actress added: “if I’m getting married I will shout it off the roof tops..to all u media ppl writing abt this..IM NOT GETTING MARRIED. IM NOT QUITTING FILMS.”
Further clearing the air, she said, “Thr r some rumours in the industry that I’m going to get married..I AM NOT ENGAGED N NOT GETTING MARRIED.. thank you to the jobless people who spread these baseless rumours to try n bring me down.. you can’t..I’m here to only work and act..my hard work will never fail..#lovemyjob.”
