Radha files complaint against sister Ambika, brother over alleged ₹50 crore cheque fraud

Veteran actress Radha, also known as Udayachandrika, has lodged a police complaint against her sister and actress Ambika Nair and their brother Mallikarjuna Kunjan Nair, also known as Arjun Nair. She has alleged that the two were involved in an attempt to misuse and forge cheques amounting to nearly ₹50 crore.

Radha told the Greater Chennai Police Commissioner that she received an alert from a bank on September 17. The message informed her that five high-value cheques had been submitted for payment in Ambika’s name. The cheques were worth ₹11 lakh, ₹13.17 crore, ₹27.73 crore, ₹7 crore and ₹1.79 crore.

Radha reportedly asked the bank to stop the payments, saying that she had no financial dealings or legally enforceable debt with her sister.

She alleged that the cheques had been filled in her brother Mallikarjuna’s handwriting. Radha also claimed that her siblings entered her room and took the cheques with the intention of using them for their own financial purposes.

The cheques were from an old 50-leaf cheque book issued in 2022 for Radha’s business, which was then called ARS Garden Studio. After the business was renamed RR Gardens under GST regulations in January 2025, she obtained a new cheque book and regarded the older cheques as unusable.
