Pradeep Ranganathan launches production house; first film stars Mamitha Baiju and Ashwath Marimuthu

Actor and filmmaker Pradeep Ranganathan has officially stepped into film production by launching his own banner, ‘PR Show’. The company’s first project, currently referred to as ‘PRS01’, was formally launched on Monday with a special announcement video, which also marked the commencement of principal photography.

The film brings together Pradeep’s ‘Dude’ co-star Mamitha Baiju and filmmaker Ashwath Marimuthu in lead roles. Swasika, newcomer Anamika Mahi and Telugu actor Sivaji Sontineni also play important characters.

The project is directed by ‘Alpha Unit’, a filmmaking collective comprising Vishal TR, Yash V, Naren Saoda, Chanakkiyan R, Dhanush Kumar and Ilamparithi. All six previously worked with Pradeep as assistant directors on his earlier directorial ventures.

In addition to producing the film, Pradeep has penned the story. Composer Sai Abhyankkar, who previously collaborated with him on ‘Dude’, has reunited for the soundtrack. Alongside the announcement, the team released a promotional song titled ‘Aane Wala Star’, which appears to serve as the film’s theme track. The lyrics are credited to the pseudonym “Dholu Bholu.”

While speculation suggests the story may be women-centric and that Ashwath Marimuthu portrays a police officer, the makers have not officially confirmed these details. Information regarding the plot, genre and release schedule is expected to be revealed at a later stage.

The technical crew features cinematographer Dinesh Purushothaman, editor Pradeep E. Ragav, production designer Aswin Lara and choreographer Dinesh Kadi. Deepan Raj serves as the creative lead, while Ramesh Narayanan is the creative producer.

‘PRS01’ also marks Pradeep’s first complete production venture after previously co-producing the Hindi remake of ‘Love Today’, ‘Loveyapa’. The multilingual film is planned for release in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

Pradeep was most recently seen as an actor in ‘Love Insurance Kompany’, directed by Vignesh Shivan. Although he has multiple projects in development, including a new directorial venture, his next acting project has not yet been officially announced.
