Who said 2020 is not a great year for Kollywood? Though it may be true on professional front, with the Covid-19 induced lockdown affecting work, personally it is a very good year for some of our celebrities.
While a few stars entered wedlock, others became parents to newborns. This week, as part of its Friday special article series, Mykollywood.com throws light on some Kollywood couples who recently welcomed new additions in their families.
Prasanna-Sneha
Many of us know that Sneha and husband Prasanna welcomed their second child, a baby girl recently. The baby was named Aadhyantha.
According to Prasanna, he and Sneha had decided to name their first child has Adhya if the baby was a girl, but it turned out to be a boy and they named him Vihaan.
This time around when they were blessed with a baby girl, Prasanna had apparently discussed the name Adhya with his parents and elders and then came to know about Aadhyantha, a word that comes in a sloka for goddes Mahalakshmi.
Aadhyantha means eternal or forever. In January, Prasanna posted “Thai Magal Vanthal,” to announce the arrival of his daughter. He also posted a photo of baby shoes.
G V Prakash-Saindhavi
Music composer-turned-actor G V Prakash Kumar and his singer-wife Saindhavi became parents to a baby girl recently. Saindhavi delivered the baby at a private hospital in Chennai.
G V Prakash was so happy and he celebrated the arrival of his daughter by distributing sweets to everyone at the hospital, however by following social distancing, sources said.
Currently, GVP is busy playing the lead role in a bunch of movies, including ‘Ayngaran’, ‘Aayiram Jenmangal’, ‘Adangathey’, ‘4G’, ‘Kadhalai Thedi Nithyananda’ and ‘Bachelor’ etc.
He first appeared as a vocalist on the soundtrack of director Shankar’s ‘Gentleman’, composed by his maternal uncle, A R Rahman. He has also contributed to some of Rahman’s other projects. He had also worked with Harris Jayaraj and sang two songs in ‘Anniyan’ and ‘Unnale Unnale’.
A L Vijay-Aishwarya
AL Vijay, who married Chennai-based doctor Aishwarya last year, became father of a baby boy in May 2020.
“Life’s journey is always special and unique in its own way for everyone. Just like anyone, my life has traveled through different stages involving success, failure, joy and pain.
But what stood by me during all such occasions is the strong support from press and media, whom I wouldn’t address as ‘Friends’, but ‘Family’. They have understood my emotions and respected my privacy with a soothing approach to my personal life,” said Vijay in an earlier statement.
He is now busy with ‘Thalaivi’ with Kangana Ranaut, a biopic of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
Nakul-Sruthi

Sharing a snap of the newborn holding her father’s finger, the new mother wrote, “And just like that, our lives became a lil more magical ! Baby Khulbee – Daddy’s Girl and Mommy’s World”.
Nakul too wrote the same caption as he shared the photo. They have named her Akira. They have also given her a nickname – ‘Khulbee’ – which is decoded as Na(khul) Sru(bee).
Karthi-Ranjani
Karthi has become father for the second time, as his wife Ranjani has given birth to a baby boy. The couple already have a daughter named Umayaal, who was born in 2013.
Breaking the news about the new arrival in the family, the ‘Paiyaa’ and ‘Kaidhi’ actor posted, “Dear friends and family, we are blessed with a boy baby.”
Karthi added: “We can’t thank enough our doctors and nurses who took us through this life changing experience. 🏽 need all your blessings for the little one. Thank you god!”
On the work front, Karthi is currently busy with ‘Sulthan’ directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan of ‘Remo’ fame. He is expected to sign more projects soon.
