May 28, 2025 marks the 101st birth anniversary of Kalamandalam Krishnankutty Poduval, who performed the new Mela Pryogam and marked the new Mela Sampradayam for the Kathakali Melam.
Nominations for the award instituted by Kalasagar to perpetuate the memory of Paramacharya are welcome from art lovers. The Kalasagar Award is given to artists in the fields of Kathakali Vesham (Actor), Music, Chenda, Madhalam, Chutti (make up). It has been decided that an art critic will also be honored this year.
Nominee should be artists settled in Kerala. Nominations should be sent to Secretary, Kalasagar, Kavalappara, Shoranur 679523 before 28th April. Awards will be presented on May 28, 2025 0n the occasions of 101st birthday celebrations viz. ORU PIRANNALINTE OORMAKKU to be held at Vazhenka Kunjunair Smaraka Trust hall, Karalmanna, Cherppulassery, Palakkad.
