Actress Namitha has reflected on the early phase of her career, admitting that the fame she gained in Tamil and Telugu cinema also brought an attitude she later came to regret.
In a recent interview with Touring Talkies, Namitha said she was aware that she had become arrogant and difficult to deal with during her first couple of years in the film industry. The actress described the phase as one in which she developed “thalai kannam” — a Tamil expression referring to pride or conceit that can accompany sudden success.
According to Namitha, the attention she received after entering the industry contributed to this change in her personality. However, several people around her eventually pointed out that such behaviour could affect her future in cinema.
She recalled being repeatedly warned that she would struggle to sustain a career if she continued behaving in the same manner. Those conversations made Namitha reassess herself. She said the criticism did not come from a single individual but from several people who felt she needed to change her approach.
Looking back, the actress also acknowledged that her behaviour may have made things uncomfortable for people she worked with, including fellow actors and members of the technical and junior crew. Namitha said she eventually understood the importance of changing her attitude and believes the advice she received at the time helped her evolve both personally and professionally.
