A promotional event for ‘Meesaya Murukku 2’ featuring Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi was cancelled on Saturday night after an unexpectedly large crowd gathered at Phoenix Mall in Velachery.
Aadhi had reached the Chennai venue for the programme, which was organised as part of the film’s promotional campaign. However, the number of fans at the mall reportedly increased rapidly, creating difficulties in managing the gathering.
Police officials expressed concern over crowd control and the possibility of a dangerous situation developing. Following their advice, the organisers decided to call off the event before Aadhi could take part in the scheduled programme.
The decision disappointed fans as well as Aadhi, who later shared a video message addressing the cancellation.
Aadhi said he had been excited about meeting the audience but accepted the decision because the safety of the fans and everyone present had to come first. At the same time, he thanked the audience for the overwhelming response to the film.
Phoenix Mall subsequently explained that the programme was cancelled as a precaution. The mall said the decision followed an assessment of the crowd and concerns related to safety and crowd management. The cancellation has nevertheless highlighted the strong interest surrounding ‘Meesaya Murukku 2’ ahead of its release and promotional campaign.
