The title of Vijay Sethupathi’s 50th flick directed by Nithilan Swaminathan has been announced. Produced by Passion Studios, the film’s cast includes Vijay Sethupathi, Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas and Natty Natraj in important roles. The movie has been titled ‘Maharaja’ and the first look has already grabbed the attention of the fans.
This is not the first time that a Tamil movie’s title is synonymous with the word ‘King’. Let us take a look at some of the prominent movies that had the word King or its equivalent as its title.

Maamannan:

 

Udhayanidhi Stalin’s last film as an actor released recently and has had good response from the audience. The movie directed by Maari Selvaraj is produced by Red Giant movies. Start cast of the movie includes Vadivelu, Fahadah Faasil and Keerthy Suresh in prominent roles. The movie was titled ‘Maamannan’ which means King of Kings.

Mannan:

 

Mannan is a 1992 Indian Tamil-language film directed by P Vasu. The film stars Superstar Rajinikanth, Vijayashanthi, Kushboo, Manorama, Pandari Bai, Goundamani, and Visu. A typical Superstar movie which makes the audience travel through the protagonist’s journey as he faces happy moments as well as certain hardships.

Rajadhi Raja:

 

Rajadhi Raja (King of Kings) is a 1989 action comedy film, directed by R Sundarrajan and written by Panchu Arunachalam. The film stars Rajinikanth in a dual role, with Nadhiya and Radha portraying his characters’ love interests. It revolves around Raja, a rich estate owner’s son who seeks to avenge his father’s death. He is aided in his quest by Chinnarasu, a lookalike.
It may be noted that in 2009 Raghava Lawrence also acted in a movie with the same name.

King:

 

Directed by Prabhu Solomon, King was produced by Krishnakanth. The film stars Vikram and Sneha, while Vadivelu, Nassar, Janagaraj, and Santhana Bharathi play supporting roles. Dhina scored the film’s music, and G. Ramesh handled the cinematography. It was released in September 2002.

Raja Rani:

 

John (Arya) and Regina (Nayanatara) marry to make their respective parents happy. They don’t like each other and live separately under the same roof. They both have bad experiences in their love life and couldn’t get along with each other. What are their past stories, how do they fall in love with each other forms the rest of the story.
