Though the webseries ‘The Family Man 2’ has been caught in between a lot of controversies, Samantha’s performance in the series is much appreciated by everyone and the actress is being lauded for taking up such a bold role.

Tamil cinema has produced a number of strong female characters through the years. Let us take a look at some of the iconic characters of such actresses.

Ramya Krishnan:
Ramya Krishnan will be remembered for her magnificent performance as Rajamatha Sivagami Devi in ‘Baahubali’. It wasn’t the first time the actress represented herself as a powerful woman. She is still remembered for her stunning performance in the film ‘Padayappa’, in which she was pitted against superstar Rajinikanth. She also played Goddesses in a handful of her older films, which are still regarded as her best performances.

Priyamani:
In the film ‘Paruthiveeran’, Priyamani produced her best performance of her career. Her performance as Muthazhalagu in the movie is still regarded as a model for a powerful female lead role in Tamil cinema. She was even nominated for a national prize for her work in this picture. Both the efforts of filmmaker Ameer, who wrote such a strong character, and Priyamani’s remarkable performance can be seen in the movie.

Nayanthara:
Nayanthara, like the other actresses, debuted in Tamil cinema. Her problems after becoming a celebrity, however, were widely known and discussed. These remarks strengthened her, and she returned to the industry with a strong determination. She went on to play strong characters in films like ‘Aram’ and ‘Mookuthi Amman’ after that.

Trisha Krishnan:
It’s not easy to maintain a solid position in the film industry. It’s considerably more difficult for an actress to hold a spot. Trisha, on the other hand, was the one who did it. Even after over two decades, she is still the top actor. Trisha has been involved in a number of controversies in the past, but she continues to be a role model for many women. She struggled silently against all the negativity in order to shine like a star.  She played her first ever negative part in the film ‘Kodi’ and her performance was widely appreciated by all.

Andrea Jeremiah:
Andrea Jeremiah is known for her confident demeanour. In the film’Tharamani’, she portrayed a character with a similar mindset. She was praised for putting on such a courageous persona. She also gave a similar performance in the film ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’, which also starred Karthi and Reema Sen. Her character as Chandra in Vada Chennai is one of the iconic roles that she has played so far.
