Following the vacancy left by the ‘Jana Nayagan’ postponement, filmmaker Mohan G has confirmed that his historical epic ‘Draupathi 2’ will now hit theaters for the Pongal festival.
Starring Richard Rishi and Rakshana Induchoodan, the film explores the 12th-century history of the Kadavarayas’ resistance against the Hoysala Kingdom during the rule of Veera Vallalar III.
To build momentum for the new date, the official trailer is scheduled for release tonight, January 10, at a special event in Chennai.
Mohan G stated that the film aims to “bring the history of our land alive” for modern audiences, featuring a blend of period drama and intense action sequences.
The production features a high-profile technical team, including music by Ghibran and cinematography by Philip R Sundar, with elaborate sets designed to recreate the Hoysala era.
By moving into the festive window, the makers hope to attract family audiences looking for a historical narrative during the traditional holiday season.
