Dhanush-starrer gritty crime thriller, ‘Kara’ , is officially expanding its reach to a pan-Indian audience.
Global streaming giant Netflix has formally secured the exclusive digital rights for the film and confirmed that it will be available for streaming simultaneously in five languages: Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, starting this Thursday, May 28, 2026.
Directed by Vignesh Raja and written alongside Alfred Prakash, the film is a raw, survival-driven heist drama set against a unique 1991 rural backdrop during the Gulf War fuel crisis.
The narrative follows a reformed thief named Karasaami (played by Dhanush) who is dragged back into a dangerous world of crime after predatory local banks trap his family in severe debt and attempt to seize their ancestral land.
Produced by Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh under the Vels Film International banner in association with Think Studios, the film features an exceptional ensemble cast including Mamitha Baiju, Suraj Venjaramoodu, K.S. Ravikumar, and Karunas.
While the high-budget thriller saw a mixed theatrical run following its initial April 30 release, film critics have heavily praised Vignesh Raja’s technical craftsmanship in staging highly elaborate, suspenseful heist sequences alongside an atmospheric background score engineered by G.V. Prakash Kumar.
