Earlier this week, it was announced that Dhruv Vikram, who made his debut with ‘Adithya Varma’ recently, would share the screen space with his father Vikram in a film to be directed by Karthik Subbaraj, tentatively titled ‘Chiyaan 60’.

The director tweeted: “Happy to announce that my next directorial after Jagame Thandhiram is Chiyaan 60. Starring the awesome Chiyaan Vikram Sir and Dhruv Vikram. And it will be an Anirudh musical. So excited for this film.” Interestingly, Tamil cinema has witnessed star kids acting with their fathers from the 1980s itself. Let’s have a look at some of such flicks.

Mr CHANDRAMOULI

‘Mr Chandramouli’ is a 2018 sports comedy thriller film written and directed by Thiru and produced by G. Dhananjayan. It features Karthik, Gautham Karthik, Regina Cassandra, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Santhosh Prathap in the lead roles.

The film revolves around Raghav, a professional boxer, finds himself in a fix when an unexpected turn of events gets him tangled in a battle between his passion, family and the love of his life.

BAANA KAATHADI

‘Baana Kaathadi’ is a 2010 romance film written and directed by Badri Venkatesh. Atharvaa, son of Tamil actor Murali, made his debut in the film as a lead actor, while Prasanna, Samantha, and Karunas also play lead roles, while Murali makes a cameo appearance.

Featuring music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Richard M Nathan and editing by Suresh Urs, the film, which was launched in March 2009,released on 6 August 2010.

It is the last movie of Murali, who made a special appearance in this movie, before his death in September 2010. This movie was an above average grosser but was an acclaimed film.

JORE, VETRIVEL SAKTHIVEL, KOVAI BROTHERS

‘Jore’ is a 2004 action comedy film directed by Selva, starring Sathyaraj and Sibiraj in lead roles. The film, produced by C Swarupa Lakshmi and C Sarat Babu, had musical score by Deva and was released on 9 October 2004.

‘Vetrivel Sakthivel’ is a 2005 film written and directed by Lakshmi Priyan and produced by R S Venkatraman. It stars Sathyaraj and his son Sibiraj alongside Khushbu Sundar and Nikita Thukral in the lead roles while Vadivelu and Bharathi play supporting roles and Thambi Ramaiah play the antongonist roles.[

‘Kovai Brothers’ is a 2006 film written, produced, and directed by Sakthi Chidambaram. The film stars Sathyaraj, Sibiraj, Vadivelu, Namitha, Uma, and Kovai Sarala. The music was composed by D. Imman. The film was dubbed in Telugu as ‘Pokiri Brothers’.

SANGILI, VELLAI ROJA

‘Sangili’ is a 1982 film, directed by C V Rajendran and produced by S D Gunasekaran. The film stars Sivaji Ganesan, Prabhu, Sripriya, Major Sundarrajan, Sumithra and M N Nambiar in the lead roles. The film had its musical score by M S Viswanathan. The film was a remake of the 1976 Hindi film ‘Kalicharan’.

‘Vellai Roja’ is a 1983 Indian Tamil-language film, directed by A Jagannathan and produced by V Viswanathan. The film stars Sivaji Ganesan, Ambika, Prabhu and Radha in lead roles. The film had musical score by Ilaiyaraaja. It is a remake of the Malayalam film ‘Post Mortem’ which was remade in Telugu in 1984 as ‘SP Bhayankar’ , in Kannada in 1988 as ‘Dharmathma’ and in Hindi in 1993 as ‘Tahqiqaat’.
