The Chennai Principal Sessions Court has dismissed the bail petitions of nine individuals arrested in connection with the online leak of Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’.
Judge S. Karthikeyan rejected the pleas of the accused—who were freelance editors working with the film’s lead editor—stating that a “deep and thorough investigation” is required to unearth the entire conspiracy.
The prosecution argued that the leak was a pre-meditated move to earn illegal profits, which has directly resulted in a massive Rs 70 crore loss for the production house.
The court noted that granting bail at this stage could hinder the investigation into the digital theft of files from the studio’s hard disks, which were subsequently shared via Google Drive and Telegram.
