The budget controversy surrounding the Sivakarthikeyan starrer ‘Madharaasi’ has finally reached a resolution via the Directors Association and Producers Council.

The film’s producer filed a complaint alleging that the budget escalated from an initial Rs115 crore to over Rs 170 crore due to improper planning.

In its verdict delivered on March 29, the Council reached a compromise: instead of a direct financial penalty, A.R. Murugadoss has agreed to provide the story and screenplay for ‘Ramana 2’ (Telugu version) free of cost to the production house.

This settlement is aimed at helping the producer offset the financial strain caused by the budget overshoot while maintaining professional ties.
