The production of actor Soori’s upcoming film, ‘Mandadi’, was hit by an unexpected accident when a boat carrying the film crew capsized off the coast of Thondi near Ramanathapuram.

The incident, which occurred due to strong waves and high winds during the filming of a crucial sequence at sea, resulted in a significant loss of equipment.

While the crew, including actor Soori, managed to escape without any injuries, a valuable RED digital camera, reportedly worth between Rs 60 lakh to Rs 1 crore, sank into the sea and was damaged.

The film, directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, is based on the lives and challenges of the fishing community and features key scenes revolving around sailing boat races. Despite the setback, the crew quickly resumed filming with enhanced safety measures.
