Director Ashwath Marimuthu has shared his idea for a hypothetical biopic on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, including the title he would choose and the point he believes would make the perfect interval moment.
Marimuthu, who rose to prominence with ‘Oh My Kadavule’ before delivering the successful ‘Dragon’, is currently directing ‘Dharman’, which stars Rajinikanth and is backed by Kamal Haasan.
The filmmaker is also set to make his acting debut in an upcoming project produced by Pradeep Ranganathan. The film is being helmed by six directors and features Mamitha Baiju and Swasika.
During a recent interaction with Galatta, Marimuthu was asked how he would make a biopic about Vijay if he ever got the opportunity.
He revealed that he would name the film ‘Nenjil Kudirukum’. His proposed narrative would begin with Vijay’s rise and journey as an actor. The actor’s decision to enter politics would then serve as the interval point, with the second half focusing entirely on his political career.
Marimuthu’s comments were made in response to a hypothetical question, and there is no confirmed Vijay biopic currently being planned by the director.
Vijay has moved away from cinema after completing his 69th film, ‘Jana Nayagan’, directed by H Vinoth, as he focuses on his political career.
Meanwhile, work on ‘Dharman’ is progressing. The project marks a reunion between Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan after several decades. Simran and Raashi Khanna are also part of the cast.
Promotional material has introduced Rajinikanth’s character as the “Deadly Doctor”. Although reports have linked Ram Pothineni to the movie, the makers have not officially announced his involvement. Further details about the plot, supporting cast and release plans are yet to be revealed.
