Ashok Selvan is set to return to the big screen with ‘Anbil Avan’, his upcoming Tamil film featuring Preity Mukhundhan as the female lead. The project was officially launched on Wednesday along with the release of its title teaser.

The film marks the directorial debut of R Kaarthikeyan and comes more than two years after Selvan’s previous release, ‘Blue Star’. Speaking at the launch, the actor explained that he had deliberately taken his time before committing to his next project.

Selvan said he did not want to sign a film merely to maintain a regular presence in theatres or remain in the news. Instead, he chose to wait for a story that genuinely appealed to him.

The actor also pointed out that the industry and audience expectations surrounding screenplays have evolved considerably during his break. He expressed confidence that ‘Anbil Avan’ would live up to the trust audiences have placed in his choice of scripts.

R Kaarthikeyan has written and directed the film, with Vignesh Raja and Ashok Selvan also contributing to the screenplay. Ashameera Aiyappan has worked on the additional screenplay.

The title teaser suggests that the story centres on a newly married couple whose relationship is put under pressure by a series of unusual circumstances.

The supporting cast includes Sabumon Abdusamad, Kadirbalu and Maha Delhi Ganesh.

Govind Vasantha is composing the music, while Kaarthikeyan has penned the lyrics. Gowtham Rajendran is handling cinematography and Selva RK is the editor. Manikandan Srinivasan serves as the art director, with Peter Hein overseeing the action choreography.

With ‘Anbil Avan’, Ashok Selvan appears to be continuing his preference for content-driven projects rather than rushing into back-to-back releases.
