Days after conducting raids at his properties and questioning him over financial dealings, the Income Tax Department on Monday summoned actor Vijay over charges of tax evasion and his alleged links with financier Anbu Chezhiyan.
On Monday evening, the actor, hailed as ‘Thalapathy’ by his fans, completed the Neyveli shooting schedule of his upcoming film ‘Master’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
He came out of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation campus, stood on the top of a bus and greeted his fans who had gathered in large numbers. He also clicked a selfie with him.
“Thank you Neyveli,” Vijay captioned the selfie and posted it on his microblogging page. Sources say Vijay would appear before the Income Tax department officials soon.
Last week, the department said in a statement that Vijay’s investment in immovable properties and remuneration received from AGS Group for acting in a film (‘Bigil’) was the focus of the search.
It also claimed to have detected Rs 300 crore hidden income during searches at Anbu Chezhiyan’s residence and office located here and in Madurai.
