Amitabh to play Rajini’s adopted father

The life of Palam Kalyanasundaram, a well-known social activist from Tamil Nadu, will be made into a film in Hindi and Bollywood’s ‘Big B’ Amitabh Bachchan is expected to play the lead role.

Buzz is that while Abhishek Bachchan would play the younger Kalayanasundaram, as the Bachchans were moved after reading a book on the activist, who spent his life’s earnings, including the Rs 30 crore awarded to him as part of the ‘Man of the Millennium’ honour, on social causes.

It may be recalled that superstar Rajinikanth once hailed Kalyanasundaram as his adopted father. A recipient of the Best Librarian in India Award, Cambridge honored him as one of the ‘noblest men of the world’ and the United Nations recognized him as one of the most outstanding people of the 20th century.

Born at Melakarivelamkulam in Thirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu, Kalyanasundaram lost his father at a very young age. It was his mother who inspired him to serve the poor.

Reports said Producer Baran Adarsh came to Chennai and sought the permission of Palam Kalyanasundaram and the bio-pic would get a kick start soon.
