This year saw a lot of movies that brought in a lot of money at the box office and had the audience glued to the theatre screens.
As the year draws to a close, let us take a look at the top movies that tasted success in the box office.
‘Jawan’:
‘Jawan’, Shah Rukh Khan’s second release of the year, was even more successful than his first release, ‘Pathaan’. The film, which also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Deepika Padukone in important parts, is now the highest-grossing Bollywood film, with Rs 1,160 crore at the global box office and ₹760 crore gross in India. The film is directed by Atlee and backed by Red Chillies Entertainment.
‘Animal’:
‘Animal’, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Triptii Dimri, and Rashmika Mandanna, is currently running in theatres and doing quite well at the box office. Its global gross receipts have already surpassed Rs 797.6 crore, with over Rs 568.4 crore in India.
‘Jailer’:
The impact of Superstar Rajinikanth’s film directed by Nelson Dhilipkumar was felt not just in India but also around the world. After its August 10 global release, this box office success story maintained its winning momentum for more than a month, grossing a total of more than Rs 607 crore worldwide.
‘Leo’:
The action movie starring Vijay became the most successful Tamil film ever made. Leo’s global opening weekend took in an astounding Rs 148.5 crore, and during its theatrical run, it brought in over Rs 620 crore. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj Trisha Krishnan plays a significant role in the movie, in which Sanjay Dutt is the adversary.
‘Gadar 2’:
Sunny Deol made a tremendous splash this year with ‘Gadar 2’. ‘Gadar 2′, which was made on a budget of around Rs 80 crore, kept the producers’ cash registers ringing even though it was released alongside ‘OMG 2’, starring Pankaj Tripathi and Akshay Kumar. ‘Gadar 2’ minted Rs 686 crore worldwide and Rs 620.5 crore gross in India.
‘Salaar’:
On Day 1, the Prabhas-starrer became the 10th Indian film to gross over Rs 100 crore globally. The film has made Rs 402 crore at the worldwide box office and is still running strong in theatres despite competition from Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’.
