The Tamil film industry, whose operations came to a standstill even before the government imposed the lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus, is all set to resume operations after a gap of almost two months.

Accepting a request from industry bodies, the  Tamil Nadu government on Friday allowed them to carry out post-production works of movies and said works can begin from May 11.

Confirming the development, RK Selvamani, president of Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI), says, “We expect around 200-250 employees to start working from May 11.”

The government has urged the industry to follow all the safety guidelines instructed by health officials including social distancing and proper hand sanitization. It also directed the production house to obtain proper passes for the technicians who are involved in the post production.

Following the permission, it is expected that post production works like dubbing, DI, color grading, sound mixing, re-recording, editing and VFX would resume. Many big films including Vijay’s ‘Master’ would get breather because of this.
