Taana

– Review

Vaibhav seems to have found his forte- playing lead roles in comedy subjects. After the likes of ‘Kappal’, ‘Meyadha Maan’ and ‘Sixer’, here comes ‘Taana’.

Directed by Yuvaraj Subramani, the film talks about a youngster who suffers from a different disorder that prevents him from following his family tradition.

Vaibhav delivers solid performance in a script that is average in first half and amuses in second half. Let’s check out story and other things:

Sakthi (Vaibhav Reddy), a youngster, suffers from a rare disorder called puberphonia. His voice changes to that of a woman’s whenever he gets nervous.

He hails from a family of policemen and his father (Pandiarajan), who too is a cop, wants Sakthi to become one to uphold the family tradition.

However, Sakthi is reluctant to take up the job due to his voice condition. But, a situation, in which a woman loses her life because of a gang of fraudsters, changes his mind.

He takes up the job of a policeman with an aim to bring the gang to book. He also realises that a big shot is behind them. Is he able to achieve his mission or not forms the rest of Taana.

Vaibhav fits well to the role. Nandita Swetha has got nothing much to exhibit her skills, rather than being a regular heroine. Pandiarajan impresses, while Yogi Babu’s one-liners are one of the highlights of the movie.

With Vishal Chandrasekhar’s music and G K Prasanna’s editing not helping the script much, the second half presents some good moments. Director Yuvaraj Subramani has strived his best to make the movie interesting, and is half successful in his mission.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5
