Kanni
– Review
An elderly woman named Senga with the help of a divine thatched box and medicinal herbs cures all the incurable diseases by following the traditional methods followed by her ancestors who resided at the hills.
A very rich man who comes to that mountain village, suddenly falls unconscious. His companions take him to Senga. Within a few days, after receiving the herbal treatment, his disease is cured and he returns home happily.
Doctors from many countries are amazed to know about the way in which the rich man was cured. They try to take away that thatched box from Senga. What happened after this is the story of ‘Kanni’.
Director Mayon Siva Thorapadi has tried to bring out the effectiveness of traditional herbal medicines. His effort to showcase this should be appreciated.
The screenplay and narration could have been better which would have made the movie all the more interesting.
Mathamma Velmurugan as Senga, Manimaran Ramasamy as her son Vedan, Ashwini Chandrasekhar as daughter Sembi, Tharra Krish as daughter-in-law Neelima, Ram Bharathan as Machachhagan, Sarika Selvaraj as Mayamma have all done complete justice to their respective characters.
The entire story revolves around Ashwini Chandrasekhar who plays Sembi. She has played her character well. She has taken high risks in action scenes.
Mathama Velmurugan, who plays Senga, also delivers a remarkable performance. Apart from them, some people from that local town have also acted.
Rajkumar Periasamy’s camerawork is impressive and Music by Sebastian Sathish gels well with the theme of the movie.
Rating: 3.6/5
