Earthy flavour
Kaadapura Kalaikuzhu
– Review
Muneeskanth runs a karakata troupe called Kadappura Kalaikuzhu. Kali Venkat is a drummer in this troupe. Muneeskanth, who has a gentle personality, loves his art and others beyond measure.
Muneeskanth and Kalivenkat have been friends for many years. Muneeskanth adopted Hari as an orphan and raised him as a sibling for 20 years. Both the brothers are affectionate towards each other.
Hari falls in love with heroine Swati Muthu, sister of SuperGood Subramani, who also owns a kalaikuzhu in the same village. At one point Swati also falls in love with Hari.
Meanwhile, a clash takes place between the village President Mime Gopi and Muneeshkanth.
What is the clash and how did it end? What happens to Hari’s love forms the rest of the story.
Director Raja Guruswamy has directed a soulful movie. This does not seem like the movie of a debut director.
He has captured the complete essence of the art of Karakattam. The proceedings including the village panchayat in a natural manner.
Muneeshkanth has given a wonderful performance as the hero of the story.
The counters that he gives at small places help the flow of the film very well.
The emotional scenes he shows at a few places make the audience feel the character’s emotion.
Kalivenkat also makes his mark with his trademark style of acting. The chemistry between Hari and Swati Muthu has worked out well in the movie.
Super Good Subramani has delivered what was expected from him. Mime Gopi is as usual menacing as the village politician.
Henry’s music acts as the movie’s biggest pillar which is complimented well by Vinoth Gandhi’s camerawork.
