Hard-hitting movie about honour killings

Aruva Sanda

– Review

Aadukalam Naren is the president of a caste outfit in a village.
Malavikka Menon is his only daughter who is in a relationship with Raja, a youth from the lower caste in the village.
Raja is very much interested in Kabbadi and gets trained to take part in the State level tournaments.
Naren, who comes to know about Malavikka’s relationship with Raja, plans to get her married to his sister’s son.
What happens next forms the rest of the story. Several movies have been made in Kollywood about honour killings.
But director Adhi Rajan has delivered a movie based on honour killing with Kabbadi as the background.
The director has also delivered a strong message to those who are still obsessed with caste. Debutant Raja fits the role of a village youth. He has delivered a neat performance and is convincing in his role.
Malavikka Menon gets to play a bold role, though she is very affectionate towards her father, Malavikka overcomes her fear to love Raja.
Saranya gets a meaty role as well and has done complete justice to it. Rest of the cast including Aadukalam Naren, Soundhiraraja have also done their part well.
BGM score by Tharan is impressive and he has used the natural sounds from the village. Santhosh Pandi has captured the village in an aesthetic manner. ‘Aruva Sanda’ is authentic and heart-touching.
