Popular stars of Telugu cinema switched off lights in their residences and lit diyas and candles along with their family members, reacting to a request by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who appealed to people to do so to highlight the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Megastar Chiranjeevi and his family members including Ram Charan, Nagarjuna Akkinen, his wife Amala Akkineni and younger son Akhil, Rajendra Prasad, Vijay Deverakonda, Hansika, Sunny Leone and others light up candles or diyas.

Meanwhile, Shruti Haasan has urged people to spread love and kindness during these tough times. “The insensitivity I’ve seen around me and on the news and some I’ve faced has made me realise – it’s alarming that a virus shows up attacking with no discrimination, but the real human disease is to find a reason to discriminate no matter what. Sad and horrid. Now is a time to help and spread love and spread kindness,” she said.

The actress added: “I hope the petty people find a way to change and grow on the other side of this. Awareness is one thing, being careful is one thing, but being mean is and never will be ok. If this doesn’t unite us, gos knows what will.”
