Actress-choreographer Gayathri Raghuram has hit out at Vijay Sethupathi for his speech at Vijay’s ‘Master’ audio launch in Chennai on Sunday.
In his address at the event, the actor said, “Nothing will come from above to save us. Humans should save each other. God has been here for millions of years and it has never created anyone capable of saving it.”
The ‘Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom’ and ‘Super Deluxe’ actor further said: “God will save itself. So, don’t believe anyone who says they are going to save god. It’s a scam!” He added: “Religion is an unnecessary link between humans and God.”
Even as his remarks attracted mixed reactions from various quarters, Gayathri, a ‘Bigg Boss 3’ participant and a Bharatiya Janata Party member said expressed his displeasure over the actor’s comments.
“In today’s world if expect another human will help u lift u and be happy of ur growth is a joke. He must have lifted u because of his godliness and following god,” she said.
She added: “Colours given for god according to religion is by human n colour given to no god believers is also by human. believing god is not bad nanba we will have ethics in life. There is no humanity when u ask them to stop believing what they believe/changing their beliefs. LiveNletlive.”
She also said: “To everyone in the film industry do not attack all god believers we have Hindus Muslims Christians Jains Buddhist sikhs etc. do not generalise about god in the name of attacking particular virus. You may directly attack the virus. There is deadlier virus (atheism)v r dealing with.”
According to Gayathri, “i did not condemn it. He is free to talk anything it’s his democracy. I don’t agree with his view. my freedom. Not everyone will stop believing god or stop believing god believers just bcos vijaysethupathy said it. atheist will like his speech according to them that’s secularism.”
