Many popular personalities of Tamil film industry and politicians have condoled the death of veteran actor-filmmaker Visu, who passed away in Chennai on Sunday evening.
The 75-year-old is survived by his wife, three daughters and six grandchildren. He breathed his last last evening at a private hospital in the city, where he was getting treated for some ailments. His funeral would be held later today.
Superstar Rajinikanth said in a tweet: “என் அன்பிற்கும் மரியாதைக்கும் உரிய நண்பர், ஒப்பற்ற எழுத்தாளர், இயக்குனர், நடிகர் விசு அவர்களின் மறைவு என் மனதை மிகவும் பாதித்துள்ளது. அவரை இழந்து வருந்தும் குடும்பத்தினர், நண்பர்கள் மற்றும் ரசிகர்களுக்கு என் ஆழ்ந்த இரங்கல்களைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன்.”
Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam said, “தமிழ் திரைப்பட இயக்குநரும் நடிகருமான திரு.விசு அவர்கள் இன்று உடல்நலக்குறைவால் காலமானார் என்ற செய்தி மிகுந்த வருத்தமளிக்கிறது.
பன்முக திரைக்கலைஞர் திரு.விசு அவர்களின் மறைவு தமிழ்த் திரையுலகிற்கு பேரிழப்பு. அன்னாரை இழந்து வாடும் அவரது குடும்பத்திற்கு எனது ஆழ்ந்த இரங்கல்! #ripvisu.”
Actor and dramatist S Ve Shekher, who has worked in over 20 films with Visu, said that the veteran filmmaker-actor was an extremely disciplined and committed .
Visu began acting on stage from his school days and then started working in the Tamil film industry. He was part of Y G Parthasarathy’s theatre troupe and later went to start his own troupe as well.
Some of his films include ‘Manal Kayiru’, ‘Samsaram Adhu Minsaram’, ”Aval Sumangalithaan’ and ‘Dowry Kalyanam’.
