Vijay Deverakonda’s upcoming period action drama ‘Ranabaali’ has been pushed to October 16, with the makers confirming the new worldwide release date on Thursday.
The film was initially scheduled to reach cinemas on September 11. Announcing the change on social media, the team teased the movie with the line, “The darkest chapter of our history opens this October.”
Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, ‘Ranabaali’ is set during the British colonial period in the Rayalaseema region. The story draws inspiration from historical records, oral traditions and relatively lesser-known events spanning the years 1854 to 1878.
Deverakonda takes on the titular character, while Rashmika Mandanna stars opposite him. Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo, who is recognised for his appearances in ‘The Mummy’ and ‘The Mummy Returns’, is also part of the cast.
The project is presented by Gulshan Kumar, Bhushan Kumar and T-Series Films and produced by Mythri Movie Makers. Ajay-Atul are responsible for the film’s music and background score.
‘Ranabaali’ marks the reunion of Deverakonda and Rahul Sankrityan following their earlier collaboration, ‘Taxiwaala’. The movie also brings Deverakonda and Mandanna together once again after their successful pairings in ‘Geetha Govindam’ and ‘Dear Comrade’.
With the release now scheduled for October 16, the film is expected to arrive as one of the major Telugu releases during the festive season.
