Raai Laxmi has indicated that she could reunite with Raghava Lawrence if she returns to the popular ‘Kanchana’ franchise.
She reflected on her experience working in the original 2011 horror-comedy ‘Kanchana’, describing it as a landmark film in her career. She said the genre was not considered commercially attractive when she signed the project, with many questioning her decision to act in a horror film.
Raai Laxmi noted that horror and thriller films later became a significant part of her filmography, including her appearance in the ‘Aranmanai’ series. She also shared her view that the sequels did not capture the same appeal as the original ‘Kanchana’.
When asked about reports linking her to ‘Kanchana 4’, the actor stopped short of confirming her involvement but suggested that any future collaboration with Raghava Lawrence would most likely be within the ‘Kanchana’ series. She added that she believes the filmmaker will once again come up with an engaging story.
Following the success of ‘Kanchana’, Raghava Lawrence expanded the franchise with ‘Kanchana 2’ in 2015 and ‘Kanchana 3’ in 2019.
The upcoming ‘Kanchana 4’ features Pooja Hegde, Nora Fatehi, Swaksha Iyer, Devadarshini and Kamalesh Jagan, with Nora making her Tamil cinema debut. Reports have also linked Nayanthara to the project, although the makers have not confirmed her casting. The ensemble also includes Ramachandra Raju, popularly known as Garuda Ram, and Anand Raj, who are returning in antagonist roles.
