Veteran composer Ilaiyaraaja has shared his sceptical views on artificial intelligence, arguing that what people describe as AI is ultimately a product of human knowledge and learning. Speaking in a recent interview, the legendary musician suggested that human beings already possess the ability to accumulate and process information, making artificial intelligence an extension of existing human capabilities rather than a separate form of intelligence.
The maestro maintained that AI cannot exist independently of human input and described it as a technology created entirely by people. His comments come amid growing discussions about the influence of AI across creative industries.
The remarks arrive during a landmark phase in Ilaiyaraaja’s career. Last year, he achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Indian and Asian film composer to present a complete Western classical symphony with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London.
Professionally, Ilaiyaraaja remains busy with several high-profile projects, including Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s next film starring Vijay Sethupathi, Karthik Subbaraj’s upcoming production, and Mari Selvaraj’s forthcoming feature Manjanathi.
