Director H. Vinoth offered a cryptic response regarding the release of ‘Jana Nayagan’, the much-anticipated film starring Chief Minister Vijay alongside Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, and Pooja Hegde.
When asked about the release timeline of ‘Jana Nayagan’ at a recent event, Vinoth remarked that the matter was beyond his control. He further suggested that revealing the full details would be difficult, adding that even if he chose to speak openly, others might not be able to share the information publicly.
The film’s release has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks. Ticketing platforms had reportedly displayed June release information, with some listings pointing to June 19. This sparked hopes among fans that the movie could arrive in theatres close to Vijay’s birthday on June 22. However, producer Venkat K. Narayana of KVN Productions clarified that the project is still awaiting certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Film Technology and Cinematograph Act, Rajmohan Arumugam, also addressed the issue, stating that the film can be released only after completing the mandatory certification process. He emphasized that the same legal procedures apply to all films and that no project should face delays for political or unrelated reasons. According to him, the certification process is currently ongoing.
Originally scheduled for a Pongal release ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, ‘Jana Nayagan’ was postponed due to delays in obtaining certification. Reports indicated that a complaint from a member of the examining committee led to the film being referred to a revising committee. Although the producers sought legal intervention, the release remained stalled.
The film faced another setback in April when an unauthorized copy surfaced online. Authorities subsequently arrested nine individuals in connection with the leak.
