With Vijay’s much awaited ‘Master’ missing the April 9 release deadline due to the lockdown because of the spread of coronavirus, makers are now planning a new release date, sources in the know say.
“Though lockdown is expected to be lifted in India on May 3, it is likely to continue in other countries like the United States and Malaysia, where Vijay has a good market. Hence, makers of ‘Master’ have decided to release the movie in June,” sources state.
“That too, in a mega treat to Vijay fans, they are looking to release the film on June 21,” sources add. ‘Master’ was supposed to hit the screens on Thursday last (April 9). But that did not happen, leavng ‘Thalapathy’ fans worried.
In an apparent bid to change their dull mood, XB Film Creators, the producers of ‘Master’, came out with an update. On their Twitter page, they released a new poster of ‘Master’ which had the lines: ‘Lockdown shouldn’t knock down our spirits! Master will meet you soon…’
They also wrote: “We miss you, just like how you miss us! Hoping that a master-mind finds an antidote and put an end to Corona! We’ll come back stronger nanbaa. Stay home, Stay Safe. #Master #StaySafe.”
‘Master’ is written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film stars actors Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi playing the lead roles with an ensemble cast, featuring Malavika Mohanan, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Arjun Das, Andrea Jeremiah and Ramya Subramanian amongst others, play supporting roles.
