Righteous and Emotional
Thiru Manickam
– Review
The film revolves around an honest and righteous lottery shop owner who goes in search of an old man who chooses a particular ticket and promises to come back with money to get the tickets.
However, in the meantime, the ticket wins a bumper prize, and the protagonist thinks it’s the old man who is the rightful owner of the unbought ticket.
What follows is a cascade of intense emotional confrontations, betrayals, and a relentless police investigation, as his family’s greed clashes with his unwavering principles.
Directed by Nanda Periyasamy, the movie strikes a fine balance between personal drama and societal commentary, delving into the insidious nature of greed and its impact on relationships.
Samuthirakani delivers a standout performance, embodying the essence of an ordinary man caught in extraordinary circumstances.
His portrayal of the characters is heartfelt, capturing the weight of his conscience and the pain of familial discord.
The supporting cast of Ananya, Nassar, Bharathiraja and Karunakaran adds depth, bringing authenticity to the interpersonal dynamics that drive the story forward.
The scenic backdrop of Kerala captured through M Sukumar’s lens enhances the film’s appeal.
Vishal Chandrashekhar’s music sets the right tone for the movie. Rest of the technical aspects are good as well.
