Editor Pradeep E Ragav has opened up about the emotional impact of the piracy leak involving Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’, saying the incident continues to affect him long after those responsible were arrested.
Speaking in an interview with Harish Ram, Pradeep said the leak was devastating not only because of its financial implications but also because it undermined the hard work of the large team behind the film. He compared the incident to an attack by a swarm of ants, saying the damage caused by piracy extends far beyond what many people realise.
According to the editor, while the authorities have taken action against those accused of leaking the film, there is little accountability for those who consume pirated content. He stressed that if viewers truly valued the effort that goes into making a film, they would avoid supporting piracy.
The pirated version of ‘Jana Nayagan’ surfaced online on April 9, several months before the film’s theatrical release. The release itself was later delayed due to certification-related issues before the movie eventually reached cinemas.
