Engaging thriller
‘Identity’
– Review
Tovino Thomas has an obsessive perfectionist personality due to his traumatic childhood.
Years later, it is this perfectionism that helps solve a case. Vinay Rai, a police officer, brings witness Trisha Krishnan into an apartment.
Alisha had to be protected as she witnessed a crime and escaped a murder attempt as well.
Vinay instructs Trisha to stay inside the house till they get a breakthrough in the case they’re working on.
Tovino comes into the play as he helps Vinay as the sketch artist.
During the investigation, Vinay and Tovino find out that Trisha is suffering from a condition where she cannot remember faces.
Being a witness and not being able to remember the face of the killer.
But, there is more than what meets the eye. Each character has a past and their past interconnects them.
Directed by the duo Akhil Paul and Anas Khan’s the movie is an action thriller that has more twists than its characters.
The film starts as a slow burner with Trisha trying to recollect who the killer is.
Aiding her are Vinay and Tovino, who have a past.
The dynamics between the two keep the progress interesting. The police investigation keeps things fairly engaging.
The movie has truly uplifted by the performances of Tovino Thomas and Vinay Rai. Their restrained actions keep fans on the edge of their seats.
Trisha’s character is not fully fleshed out, but she plays a complex role with ease. However, the dubbing portions could have been better.
Cinematography by Akhil George and editing by Chaman Chakko help the film keep its essence in place. Jakes Bejoy’s music pushes you to feel the emotion of the sequences.
