“Ananthan Kaadu” Movie Review By Naveen

Ambitious film that features Arya in a different role

“Ananthan Kaadu”

– Review

‘Ananthan Kaadu’ is the kind of film that aims for scale from the very first frame. Directed by Jiyen Krishnakumar and written by Murali Gopy, the film blends political drama, revenge, history, crime and action into a sprawling narrative led by Arya. While the ambition is admirable, the execution is far more uneven.

The film’s strongest aspect is its world-building. The opening portions, rooted in the backdrop of the Sri Lankan conflict and its aftermath, create genuine intrigue and suggest a layered political thriller. The visual presentation is consistently impressive, with several action sequences staged on a grand scale and supported by strong cinematography and production design.

Arya delivers a committed performance as a man haunted by personal loss and driven by revenge. The supporting cast, including Indrans, Vijayaraghavan, Murali Gopy and Regina Cassandra, add weight to the narrative, though several characters are not explored deeply enough despite the film’s lengthy runtime.

The film introduces numerous subplots, political threads and character arcs, but not all of them receive satisfying development. Instead of strengthening the central revenge story, many of these detours dilute its emotional impact. What starts as an engaging political-action drama gradually becomes overcrowded with ideas competing for attention.

The writing frequently reaches for larger themes involving power, identity, loyalty and social divisions. These themes are interesting on paper, but the storytelling occasionally becomes more focused on delivering statements and symbolism than maintaining narrative momentum.

The action sequences and technical departments remain reliable throughout, helping the film stay engaging even during its weaker stretches. However, the nearly three-hour runtime and repetitive narrative turns make the experience feel longer than necessary.

‘Ananthan Kaadu’ is an ambitious action-political thriller that deserves credit for its scale, performances and visual craftsmanship.
