Actor Ram Charan is actively promoting his upcoming sports drama ‘Peddi’ and recently shared an interesting conversation he had with Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the film.
Speaking at a promotional event, Ram Charan recalled meeting the Prime Minister and discussing the film’s central theme. According to the actor, PM Modi was keen to know more about ‘Peddi’, prompting him to explain that the story highlights the growth of modern India, the importance of rural empowerment, and the role of sports in transforming communities.
Ram Charan revealed that during their conversation, the Prime Minister shared an inspiring example from a village in West Bengal. He spoke about how a football player from the village had once represented India, and how the same village has since become a hub for football talent, producing numerous players over the years.
The actor also emphasized that many recent South Indian films are drawing inspiration from local culture and grassroots stories. He noted that filmmakers are increasingly focusing on villages and smaller towns rather than urban settings, bringing authentic regional narratives to the big screen. Referring to Indian archery, he pointed out that many successful athletes come from tribal communities, where natural talent and traditional skills have helped them excel in the sport.
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, ‘Peddi’ features an ensemble cast including Janhvi Kapoor, Boman Irani, Shiva Rajkumar, Divyendu Sharma and Jagapathi Babu.
Ram Charan’s remarks also brought attention to his previous meeting with PM Modi in New Delhi. The actor, accompanied by his wife Upasana Kamineni Konidela, had met the Prime Minister to express gratitude for support extended to the Archery Premier League (APL), an initiative led by Anil Kamineni. The meeting highlighted efforts to promote archery and encourage greater participation among young athletes across the country.
