Priyanka Chopra shares new details about SS Rajamouli-Mahesh Babu’s ‘Varanasi’

Priyanka Chopra has offered another glimpse into her upcoming film ‘Varanasi’, directed by acclaimed filmmaker SS Rajamouli. During a recent appearance on the Hey Jonas podcast, she spoke briefly about the ambitious project while keeping major plot details under wraps.

Priyanka revealed that she has been associated with the film for nearly 14 months, adding that Rajamouli is known for taking the time needed to deliver large-scale cinematic experiences. She said the director approached her for what she described as an epic adventure with a time-travel element spanning multiple locations around the world.

Without revealing spoilers, the actor joked that audiences can expect to see her performing plenty of dramatic slow-motion action sequences. She also expressed her excitement about being part of the film and praised the scale of the production.

‘Varanasi’ stars Mahesh Babu in the lead role, while Prithviraj Sukumaran is expected to play the primary antagonist. The screenplay has been written by Vijayendra Prasad, with music composed by M.M. Keeravaani.

Production is progressing steadily, and the film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on April 7, 2027. Backed by producers K.L. Narayana and S.S. Karthikeya, the project is reported to be one of the most expensive Indian films ever made, with an estimated budget exceeding ₹1,200 crore.
