‘8 Vasantalu’ is the latest Telugu release, which has become a talking point all over.

Directed by Phanindra Narisetti, the film has won a good name for its performances, but a few controversies have marred the romantic drama.

There is a scene in the second half when the heroine lands in Kashi to submerge the ashes of her Guru and ends up with a priest and a few Muslim men who try to rape her in a slaughterhouse.

This portrayal has caused strong outrage among some viewers and particularly within the Brahmin community, who perceive it as a deliberate and offensive attempt to malign Brahmins and Hinduism, especially given the sacred setting of Kashi.

Director Phanindra Narsetti took to social media to offer clarification. He stated that the scene was not invented but was based on real-life incidents of illegal slaughterhouses that existed in Varanasi prior to 2017.
