In a statement, Hombale Films clarified that Dhaivaradhane (Daiva worship) is a profound spiritual tradition and is “not intended for performance or casual mimicry.” They stressed that such acts “amount to trivializing our belief system and deeply hurt the religious sentiments and faith of the Tulu community.”
Following a viral incident where a fan mimicked a Daiva persona from the film in a theatre, the makers of ‘Kantara Chapter 1’, Hombale Films, and actor-director Rishab Shetty have issued a strong appeal to the public to refrain from imitating or trivializing the sacred characters.
Rishab Shetty also echoed this sentiment, explaining that while the portrayal in the film is for a “cinematic experience,” the concept of the Daiva itself is sacred and should not be distorted for public display or social media virality.
The production house urged all citizens to uphold the sanctity of this invaluable cultural heritage.
