In a shocking news to his fans, Vijay Yesudas has announced quitting playback singing in Malayalam movies.
The son of legendary singer K J Yesudas has said in an interview to a magazine that he has taken this decision to highlight the plight of singers, especially in Malayalam films.
He said that producers are ready to pay fancy remuneration to actors but pay only pittance to music directors and singers. Vijay also said that there is no respect for singers in Malayalam film industry.
He however said that he will continue singing in Tamil and Telugu films, where singers and musicians are respected and valued.
He also said that he doesn’t believe in God and has stopped going to temples and churches for the past five years. The singer also said that the Covid-19 pandemic period has been extremely tough for musicians, and he too is no exception.
