Actor-politician Vijay, who founded the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in 2024, has been granted ‘Y’ category security by India’s Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
The actor will now have multiple guards, including CRPF security officers and armed personnel.
This comes after threat assessments provided to the government by the Intelligence Bureau.
The decision also comes in the wake of Vijay’s plans for a full-fledged political career ahead of the upcoming 2026 Assembly Elections in Tamil Nadu.
Over the last few months, he has actively taken part in strengthening TVK’s roots in the state while remaining focused on the election strategies.
Speculations are rife that Vijay will lead a statewide roadshow later this year.
The ‘Y’ category security will help to address existing threat levels amid intelligence reports and Vijay’s growing political significance in Tamil Nadu.
As per the order, the actor will be guarded by 8 to 11 CRPF officials along with armed officers within the limits of the state.
