Importance of self defence
“Vembu”
– Review
Sheela is raised courageously by her father and excels in the art of Silambam.
She wants to achieve something in the art she learned for self-defense, so she gets married to her relative Hari Krishnan. After the marriage, Hari Krishnan understands her ambition and stands by her.
Their life which was going so beautifully hits a road block after Hari Krishnan gets into an accident.
Following the accident, Sheela is has to take care of her husband. This affects the photo studio she was running, and her dream of Silambam is also hindered.
How did they recover from this ordeal? What happened to Hari Krishnan in the accident? What happened to Sheela’s dream of Silambam forms the rest of the story.
Director Justin Prabhu has beautifully conveyed the need for martial arts for women through our traditional art of Silambam.
He has beautifully embedded a big message in a small film with a village background and a few actors.
Sheela, who is good at story selection, has chosen another good plot. She has played the character with subtle acting understanding the sensitivity in the role.
Hari Krishnan, who excels in even the small characters he gets, has scored sixes in this film.
He has expressed his emotional performance in the character.
Along with these, Marimuthu’s character is wonderfully written. The other actors also give competent performances and hold the film together.
Cinematographer Kumaran’s camera captures the rural natural beauty in front of the eyes. Manikandan Murali’s music adds emotion to the film.
