Madras High Court has issued stay order on the release of actor Vemal’s ‘Kannirasi’.
The verdict was given after a distribution agency approached the Court stating that the producers have cheated them.
‘Kannirasi’ is bankrolled by King Movie Makers. It is said that the production house had made an agreement with distribution agency Media Times to distribute the film in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Pondicherry.
Althaf Hameed from Media Times has given Rs 17 lakh for the distribution rights to Shameen Ibrahim. The movie was supposed to be released in 2018.
However, it got delayed and was slated to be released on 27 November by another distribution agency. Following this Media Times approached the Court. The Court has asked the production company to respond before 7 December.
