The trailer of Nayanthara’s ‘O2’ has grabbed the attention of the fans. The film is all set to be released in Disney+ Hotstar and is about the survival story of passengers who are trapped inside a bus. Let us take a look at some of the popular Tamil movies in which the bus plays a major role.
Engeyum Eppodhum:
Engeyum Eppodhum is the story of two couples — Jai)-Anjali and Sharwanand-Ananya — and how their lives are impacted by a bus accident. Portraying multiple interconnected stories on screen is a tough task but director Saravanan has done it with ease. All the plots converge during the bus accident.
12B:
12 B film begins with a young man named Shakthi (Shaam) leaving his house one morning en route to a job interview, when he spots a beautiful girl Jothika aka Jo (Jyothika) walking down the street and he’s both attracted to and distracted by her. He begins to follow her and in the process, accidentally misses his bus and is mugged. The film then pauses at this point as a voiceover begins to tell the viewer that we are about to examine how Shakthi’s life will be impacted, by missing the bus or by making it to the bus.
Sundara Travels:
Gopikrishna (Murali) owns an old bus which was received as compensation for his father’s road accident. Gopi now faces many consequences due to the bus’s pathetic condition. He had sold many valuable things to maintain this bus, and his friend Azhagu (Vadivelu) was his only companion and the bus’s cleaner. Sundara Travels is one of the best comedy movies for the 90’s kids.
Madurai to Theni:
Vinodhkumar decides to go to a village near Theni from Madurai to take up the job of a primary school teacher. Just before he begins his journey in a bus, he helps rescue Srithika from a freak mishap. Call it coincidence, both travel in the same bus. The couple doesn’t speak to each other but develops a soft corner towards each other.hen the girl gets down in her village, the youth follows her. He manages to locate her house in the village and openly expresses his desire to marry her to her parents. Did he manage to convince them and take the girl with him or not form the climax.
Sundarapandian:
Murugesan and Arivazhagan are Sundarapandian’s close friends. Arivu falls in love with Archana, who lives in a small village near Usilampatti and sees daily on the bus from Madurai to Theni. Arivu is scared to propose his love and decides to get the help of Sundarapandian in expressing love. Sundarapandian, Murugesan, and Arivu board the route bus daily in which Archana travels to her college. Bhuvaneshwaran also loves Archana and travels in the same bus, also trying to propose to her. There arises a clash between Arivu and Bhuvanesh in which Bhuvanesh falls out of the bus and dies. What happens next forms the rest of the story.
