The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has said that the movie is one among the 366 feature films that are eligible for the consideration at the 93rd oscars.

Academy voting will run March 5-10, with nominations to be announced March 15. It is to be noted that due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the organisers of the Academy Awards have made several changes in the Oscar rules this year.
Due to the changes, movies released on OTT, also find a place in the competition section. ‘Soorarai Pottru’ was released on Amazon Prime and is loosely based on the biography of Capt Gopinath, founder of the low-cost airline, Air Deccan. Aparna Balamurali is the female lead with music score by GV Prakash.
